Discovering Jesus…This Season

“What does your platform look like?”
I looked around to make sure nobody heard my response.
“I don’t have one.”
The young publisher looked at my children’s book synopsis and my motivational story before returning them to me.
“You need to work on that,” she said kindly. “You won’t find a traditional publisher that will take your stories without social media followers.”

My heart sank.

How do I do it? Where do I start?

It was my first Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers’ Conference, and it was exciting and overwhelming all at the same time.

That afternoon I attended a class where the  speaker said:

“A platform is a way to lead people to Jesus.”

That was the springboard that I needed to start a blog about finding hope in Jesus in everyday life.

If I can encourage one young mom, wife, empty-nester, or any person, really, I will feel blessed.

Two years later, I still don’t have a strong platform because this social media world still baffles me. However, the comments and responses from those who have been encouraged by my stories are priceless.

Unfortunately, my life was turned upside down a month ago when my father passed away unexpectedly, and I haven’t found the words to write a new story.

Today, as I stared at my computer, I heard a whisper in my heart.

“What’s the name of your blog?”

Discovering Jesus in every Season…I had to smile when I typed the response.

You see, I’ve written stories from the perspective of a young mom, an empty-nester, the wife of a doctor, a runner, and more.

Today, the Lord wants me to discover Him in this new, unknown season, that of a grieving daughter.

Everything changed in my world when I lost my dad, but thankfully God never changes.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Heb. 13:8 NLT

His mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness never ends. Lam. 3:22-23

He promises to never leave me or forsake me. Deut. 31:8

I can attest firsthand that these are not empty promises but real and true.

So, if you’re going through a rough season of loss like I am, remember this:

  • This season will not last forever, and we will find joy and happiness again.
  • We don’t have to go through it alone.
  • We can discover the hope, peace, and strength that only Jesus can give…today.

He died on the Cross so we could experience it.

Go, give it a try.

He’s waiting with arms open wide.
